Manjula Vijayakumar, who acted in more than 100 films in South Indian
languages like Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, has passed away at a private
hospital in Chennai today (July 23, 2013).She breathed her last in the
hospital, few hours ago. It is learnt that she sustained a stomach
injury recently and has been ailing in a hospital since some days. The
end came on Tuesday morning.
She is
married to actor Vijayakumar and the couple have three daughters,
Vanitha, Preetha and Sridevi Vijaykumar. Manjula made her debut as a
teenage girl in Shanthi Nilayam (1969). Her first lead role was in
Rickshawkaran (1971). She acted opposite the then super stars of
Tollywood including NT Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Krishna and
Shobhan Babu. In Tamil also she acted with stalwarts like Sivaji
Ganeshan, M G Ramachandran and Gemini Ganeshan. Her last film is
