Going
by media reports, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken a
possession of actor Ram Charan's property in connection with the
multi-crore Emaar-APIIC township scam. With Charan happens to be son of
Union Minister for Tourism K Chiranjeevi, the news has gained
importance. We hear, ED on Friday took hold of around 19 plots in
Boulder Hills, Manikonda in Hyderabad which also include Ram Charana and
former cricketer V Chamundeswarnath. According to government
calculations, the value of assets taken in to possession under
Prevention of Money Laundering Act would be around Rs 72 crore while the
actual cost could be much more higher than the estimations by
officials.
The operation, on Friday, at Emaar
Hills Township (EHTPL) in Bounder Hills, was led by Hyderabad
joint-director N Sridhar. Meanwhile, we hear ED also took over
possession of four other properties of EHTPL in New Delhi. Sources say
that most of 19 plots were in the name of fictitious companies,
individuals, benamis and were unsold.
